Alarm bell rings and temperature alarm transmitter air pressure
gauge is below 7 Psig:
| Surface temperature of the tank approximately same allover or temperature above water line is cooler than below water line. | |
| Water supply pressure low . | Check the water pump. |
| Water line valve not open. | Open valve |
| Temperature alarm transmitter set point is less than water inlet control temp transmitter set point. | Set temperature alarm 10 deg C above water inlet transmitter. |
| Water to carbide rati0 below 10.0 liters/kg of Carbide. | Set the water inlet temperature transmitter at a lower level as discussed in 7.3.2 . |
| Tank above water level becomes warier than tank below water level and tank pressure abscise 10 psig: | |
| Water not added to compensate for temp drop due to shut down . | Turn
off hopper toggle switch. stop acetylene compressor
when acetylene pressure goes below 5psig Bimanually
operating the safety relief valve reduce to generator
press we to 7 psig and add about 1000 liters of water
by moving the water control temperature transmitter. Restart the generator when the ,conditions are normal. |
| Top portion of acetylene generator tank above water level becomes warmer than that of bottom and tank pressure normal at 5 psig. | |
| Incorrect carbide to water ratio. | Turn
off hopper toggle switch and stop acetylene compressor
when pressure drops to 5 psig Add about 1'000 liters
of 'water by adjusting the set point of the. water
inlet control temperature transmitter. |
| Water not added to compensate for drop in temp due to shut down. | Add water turn on hopper toggle switch when conditions are normal. |
| Temperature at bottom of acetylene generator tank is not as same as position of tank just below water level. | |
| Insufficient agitation of sludge. | Check to see the shaft on opposite and from drive when the agitator drive runs. |
| Agitators drive shaft turning on drive end but not on opposite end . | |
| Broken shaft or sheared bolts. | stop the screw feeder vent off acetylene gas, flush thoroughly replace the shaft. |
Alarm bell rings all air pressure gauges are below 7 psig: |
|
| Correct are pressure is not being maintained. | Check to see that air compressor is running . Check to serif air compressor tank drain valve is closed . |
| Generator alarm light not on: | |
| Light burnt out. | Replace lamp. |
| Alarm switched off. | Turn on switch. |
| Alarm fuse burnt out. | Replace fuse. |
| Power fse to generator motor starters burnt out. | Check and replace burnt out fuse. |
| Hopper pressure can not be vented for Hooper filling: | |
| Carbide lodged between feed valve and seat. | Move selector
switch to run empty hopper. Return selector switch
to run full hopper. Repeat the same till it is normal. |
| Open end of the screw when the generator was cleaned. | Turn off hopper toggle tank. Remove top plate from end of screw feeder and clean the open end. |
